49th Day Shay-Gu Ceremonies Honor Jigme-la

Jigme Norbu- Ambassador for World Peace

Jigme Norbu-Ambassador for World Peace

Sunday April 3 marks the 49th day since the sudden passing of our friend & Walk for Tibet leader Jigme Norbu. In Buddhist tradition, this Shay–Gu formally ends the mourning period, thus allowing the spirit of the departed to be free to reincarnate (if it hasn’t already)  or otherwise continue its journey.

Many of the initial walkers and local supporters will gather at the accident site Sunday, April 3, 12 noon, for a brief ceremony celebrating the life and spirit of Jigme, sending him on his way with Buddhist prayers led by Wangchuk Dorjee-la, song & fond memorial tributes.

Please join us in person if you can (A1A in Palm Coast, Florida, about 30 miles south of St. Augustine, across from the Publix & Comunity Center with parking lot).

There will also be services held at various locations around the world. Do check with your Tibetan Associations for local details.

Just as beneficial will be your prayers from wherever you are in the world.

Remember Jigme’s message and why he walked.  You too can contribute to World Peace by your own deeds and spirit of goodness expressed in the world. You too, can assist in awareness of Tibetan independence by using your own voice to speak out against injustice, and requesting international recognition of Tibet as a land governed by Tibetans.

Your well wishes and comments that promote Jigme’s goals for World Peace, Human Rights, Tibetan Independence and Freedom for ALL humans are welcome.  Namaste- we recognize and honor the Divine, and your  unique expression of the Divine, in each of you.

March 17 His Holiness the Dalai Lama Exile Anniversary

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Who knew that when a young Dalai Lama left his beloved homeland of Tibet on March 17, 1959, that his vision, message and profile would become famous around the world? And that he, by his example and global outreach, would keep both the Tibetan culture and ultimate religious message alive across decades of suffering and abuse? His Holiness the Dalai Lama is ‘a movable Tibet’, carrying in his person the hopes, dreams, religious and historical traditions of a nation. The very fact of his exile required him to truly know what FREEDOM means, and to develop a message of human kindness and compassion understood at a global level that transcended a purely Buddhist approach.

What Tibetans face, wherever they are in the world, is seeking and understanding what it really means to be Tibetan and how to play out the messages of World Peace, Human Rights, Tibetan Independence and Human Freedom called for by His Holiness, his elder brother Dr. Thubten Norbu and his nephew Jigme Norbu on his Walks for Tibet.

Step by step, person by person, is how Jigme’s Walk for Tibet sought to make a difference at this time. How can YOU take a stand for those values today? How can you make kindness & compassion a part of your daily ‘way of being’?
