How Peace Is Necessary Factor for International Trading

Published by:

International Trading

International trading and world peace are interrelated and the debate over whether the increased level of international trade can lead to fewer world conflicts or vice versa has been raging in political science and economic circles for years now. However, studies suggest that trade benefits the economy of the nations and the nation’s residents. Expanding trade, foreign investment and competition deliver lower prices, more choices and higher incomes for consumers. Take the case of the beauty industry in Australia which has been revolutionised by non-invasive cosmetic treatments delivered on IPL machines, microdermabrasion and LED machines being developed by the leading manufacturers. The globalisation has opened fantastic opportunities for the Australian companies to deliver these machines and their services to hundreds of millions of new customers.

Raised returns for people

This rising flow of capital across borders has raised returns for people who save and invest while funding new investment opportunities that spread good paying jobs and technologies around the globe. During the World War II and Cold War, the republican and democratic presidents advocated international trade which helped to promote human rights and democracy and ultimately a more peaceful world.

Global trade has more impact on creating peace by lessening the likelihood of conflict between the nations located at a distance than for nations sharing common borders.

Keep fragile states peaceful

Trade can have a substantial impact on whether the fragile economics will remain peaceful or backslide into conflict. International trade to fragile countries provide the populations with necessities and as a result, conflict is less likely to occur. Fragile states are low-income countries that are unable to meet their population expectations and capacity, so they are extremely dependent on international trade for food and basic commodities. So, no conflict will occur as long as international trade to these countries continues.

The challenges faced

There are many challenges a nation faces on daily bases such as concerns over the environment, sudden disease outbreak and terrorist issues. All these problems and challenges can be tackled if nations cooperate by sharing resources and information to help efficiently solve the problems.

When a nation shares its resources with other nation, it automatically resolves the difficulties that they are facing as it creates a balance between the two. When all the nations have what they need, automatically the economy will grow and societies tend to live in harmony with each other. On the other hand, if resources are not shared, nations become hostile and no one is profited in the end.

As the world is filled with so much diversity, it is exciting to know about them, so international relations can also be built by promoting cultural backgrounds of the nations. This can be done by allowing tourists to visit countries to learn about the culture, promote student exchange programs and having cultural exhibitions to enhance the understanding of various lifestyles of people.

In the end, living in peace and harmony is what every nation wants. The economic instability of a country will provoke political upheaval in the country, so it is essential to focus on the economic growth which can be achieved by international trade.

Relation between Education and Global Peace

Published by:

Education is the foundation for economic and social development. It also leads to an awareness of the environment that we live in and gives us the ability to judge impartially what is going on around us. A person who is highly educated can hardly be swayed into taking unconsidered decisions and be involved in thought processes that can harm the larger interests of society. Education decreases the possibility of “herd” mentality that is, blindly following what others want you to believe, often to the detriment of self and country. This is one reason why oppressive dictatorships flourish in countries that are low in education indices. People who have not reached a certain standard in education can hardly be expected to have a decent standard of living and quality of life and this becomes a breeding ground more for conflict than peace.

Education also facilitates an understanding of the need for public health and acts as a catalyst for peace and prosperity. This also brings about an increasing awareness for the need to establish social justice and prevent violence and poverty in every form. When the fabric of society is shredded by vested interests through strife and hostility, there can only be one possibility – that groups are taking advantage of the people not aware of the environment and using them for their narrow ends. An educated population on the other hand will be able to judge the pros and cons and weigh the results and will not be swayed by elements that are a curse on society. Thus education can be said to be one of the key components for ensuring global peace.

Peace education programmes are so structured that they challenge the status quo and explore new avenues for global peace even in times of chaos and instability. It helps us to actively modify attitudes and behaviour and mould our mindset to be at peace with the world. The key to education is the many alternatives it offers for serving mankind. Take the case of the nursing profession in Australia. Melbourne nursing courses offer opportunities for young minds to care for the sick and the infirm. This takes the youth away from adverse situations and directs them towards respectability, far away from potential conflict areas. It is about people getting involved in education that makes the main difference.

If one avenue has to be chosen that can establish a close bond between education and its impact on global peace, it has to be transformative learning. It is not merely a process of learning that creates an awareness of what we do not know; it changes our whole attitude and perception of life. Another example will help simplify the process of transformative learning. If you have gone through one of the many dental courses in Australia, you will undoubtedly be on your way to a rewarding and a lucrative career. But how will it change you? Along with the skill sets acquired of the dental profession, you will also focus on human suffering that is related to gums and oral disease. Curing it will give you a satisfaction that goes far beyond the call of the profession. Knowing what pain is at first hand will stop you from getting into violent and conflict situations.

This then is the power of education in maintaining world peace. It helps to structure beliefs, attitudes and values and channelize them towards positive goals and objectives of life. Most importantly, these attributes based on quality education are more resistant to change and hence more lasting in nature. This enables us to have a world scenario where peace is paramount, lasting and permanent.

Universal Laws to Maintain Peace and Order

Published by:

Universal Peace

Laws are essential because they serve as a standard of conduct for residents. It also acts as a guideline for acceptable behaviour and ensures equality within communities and social groups. Laws communicate what is acceptable and what is not in each society and are also necessary in order for a society to be peaceful and problem-free. Without law, there would be no guidelines for accepted behaviour and conflicts between social groups and communities could erupt. Laws provide protection to victims of crimes and punishment and to those who violate the laws.

Law is the essential foundation of stability and order both within societies and in international relations. The UN is working to maintain international peace and security in a world where security threats have become more complex. UN was primarily established to maintain international peace and security.

The first universal law formulated by UN is peaceful settlement or adjustment of disputes. Since the direct cause of war and violence is always a dispute between states, it is necessary that these disputes should be settled at the earliest. If the parties fail to settle the dispute by peaceful means, they are bound by the terms of UN charter to refer the problem to the council. For example, if you are involved in a dispute concerning a contract for the sale of land in another country, then you should consult conveyancing lawyers in that country to help you out in the settlement of the dispute. The lawyers aim to offer an impartial and authoritative alternative to litigation and arbitration.

Parental principle law includes compulsory attendance laws for children. Under this law child and vulnerable adults can’t be neglected. Also, under this law, possession of certain drugs is not permitted. This law is effective in maintaining peace and prosperity in the world if sensibly enforced.

All governments have laws controlling utilisation of goods or services to its citizens, but when these laws are used to control the conduct, they can give few people, groups or associations unfair preferences over others.

Human rights are another international law under where certain stipulations are laid which everyone is bound to respect. Under this law, all human beings are entitled to civil and political rights, right to life and liberty, freedom of speech and thought, social, cultural and economic rights, right to food, right to work and right to education. The law prohibits practices such as torture, slavery and uninformed detention or exile.

Laws are essential to have a system in a society to regulate a good relationship among citizens, even for those with conflicting interests. Laws ensure that human rights are protected and respected. Without laws, our society and the world would not be able to function properly and crimes would become an everyday occurrence and breach the peace and prosperity of the nation.

Refugees are Welcome in Canada says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Published by:

Justin Trudeau

Refugees are welcome in Canada says Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada. But what were the calamitous happenings that have made the PM come out with such a statement?

It all happened outside the borders of Canada in the USA. Soon after he was sworn in as the President of the United States and true to his campaign promise, Donald Trump signed an executive order that has its ramifications across the globe even though the fallout is restricted to just seven countries. The order bans all immigrants and even visa holders from seven Muslim majority countries from entering the USA for 90 days. It even prohibits all refugee admissions for 120 days, bans Syrian refugees indefinitely and puts Christian refugees at the front of the line.

This act that plays right into the hands of Muslim terrorism propaganda that theirs is a persecuted lot in the hands of America. Surprisingly, no immigrants from all the seven countries on the ban order – Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan and Somalia have been responsible for even one American death due to terrorist attacks in the USA. They are just fleeing oppression, violence and war in their respected countries. Slamming the door on their faces has raised a hue and cry around the world.

What has shown Trump in bad light is blocking Muslim refugees from Muslim countries while giving precedence to Christian refugees. Syrians have been singled out by Trump. Anyone from that country, including those fleeing the civil war that has already devastated the nation has been blocked indefinitely from entering the United States of America.

It is here that the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has donned the mantle of saviour for refugees. On Saturday, he emphatically stated that his country will welcome refugees blocked by the Trump administration. He tweeted, “To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength. #WelcomeToCanada”. Immigration lawyers in Vancouver, BC are also working overtime to ensure that the refugees get a smooth passage into the country.

A spokeswoman of Trudeau said that the PM has plans to discuss the success of Canada’s refugee policy with Trump. Kate Purchase said, “The Prime Minister is looking forward to discussing the successes of Canada’s immigration and refugee policy with the President when they next speak”.

Justin Trudeau has always been sympathetic to those escaping from persecution in foreign lands. Soon after assuming charge as the Prime Minister of Canada, Trudeau welcomed about 39,000 Syrian refugees into the country. On Saturday, he also posted a picture date marked 2015 on Twitter that shows him greeting a Syrian refugee child at the Toronto airport.

Trudeau has received unqualified support from Toronto Mayor John Tory who called his city one of the most diverse in the world. In a statement he said, “We understand that as Canadians we are almost all immigrants and that no one should be excluded on the basis of their ethnicity or nationality”.

Canada now definitely remains the last hope for refugees from the banned countries on Trump’s list.

Become a Peacemaker – Peacekeeping Missions Recruitments

Published by:

img

Being a peacemaker is not easy since it generally means maintaining peace in countries torn apart by civil war, rebellions and strife. It is also not possible for an individual to take the first flight out of the country to mediate between warring groups at some remote corner of the globe. There is a process to all this and it is quite complicated. Countries too cannot send their people or military to intervene in the internal affairs of another. That will be an open interference in the sovereignty of a nation. This is one reason why the UN is the central authority for all peacekeeping forces stationed around the world drawn from 193 Member States of the United Nations.

There are two aspects to this. First, the UN recruits from a wide range of backgrounds so that the peacekeeping force is as diverse as possible in terms of background, race, religion and culture. This always helps in creating a fresh perspective to the issue of peacekeeping. After recruitment, you can work in the UN Headquarters in New York in a desk job managing logistics or in any of the regional hubs of the UN in a similar capacity.

The other option and this is what UN peacekeeping forces have come to represent is field level operations. However, recruitment in peacekeeping forces is not a cakewalk or as simple as say labour hire in Melbourne, a lot of things have to be taken into account.

Field level operations are categorised into military and police forces. The first is at once ruled out for an aspiring peacemaker. The UN charter does not have provision for its own peacekeeping force and relies on contributions of military personnel from its member states. All Blue Berets – traditional colours of the UN peacekeeping force – are first members of their own national armies and are deputed to the UN peacekeeping force either to work in UN headquarters or in field operations, generally for a year.

The second route is to become a UN police officer. Most of the UN Police Officers are deputed to the Department of Police Peacekeeping Operations’ Police Division for terms ranging from 6 months to a year. For this to happen, you must contact your government that will then nominate you for the service, the rules and regulations of which varies from country to country. Another limited alternative is to apply for professional police officers posts as notified by the UN from time to time. Police Officers who are really interested in joining UN peacekeeping forces as a police officer may keep a track of vacancies notified from time to time on the United Nations Careers portal.

It is the career benefits that draw police officers from countries around the world to be a part of the peacekeeping force. Police officers get an opportunity to increase their professionalism through specialised training and studying international policing methods. It is also a great mental satisfaction to help out others in a crisis or war and many serve in more than one country during their careers.

Become a peacemaker through peacekeeping missions and be a better person individually.
